Before You Order

How Do I Measure for Roller Shades?
This step by step measuring guide and video will help you get the correct measurements for your roller shades.
What If My Measurements Are Incorrect?
We understand measuring for your own shades can be intimidating. So if your measurements turn out to be incorrect, we have you covered:

  • Shades too big? Send them back and we will trim them to size at no cost.
  • Shades too small? Send them back and we will remake your shades within 5 inches of your original order for 50% off.
What If I Select the Wrong Product or Style?
Simply return the shade and we will alter it or make a new shade with the adjusted options at a 50% discount. The costs of such adjusted options need to be equal in value to the original options to avoid additional charges.
What Is the Difference Between Solar Screen Openness Percentages (%)?
Our solar screen shades are tightly woven to reduce incoming light and UV rays and to provide privacy. There are four openness percentage options:

  • 1% is considered room darkening and will only show pinholes.
  • 3% will allow you to see through, but with a slightly blurred view.
  • 5% is very close to 3% but, will give you more clarity in your view.
  • 10% is very open and shouldn’t be used with direct sunlight.
What Motorized Power Types Are Available for Roller Shades?
We offer 12V low voltage smart motors that can be powered by hardwire, plugin, or internal or external battery. Line voltage 120V is available hardwired or plugin.
Can I Order Product Samples?
Yes! We know how important it is to see the color and texture of a fabric or hardware in person before placing an order for a brand new roller shade system. To get started, you can browse and order samples here.
What Is the Difference Between the MSX ONE with Mounting Plate and Without?
The MSX One w/ Mounting Plate will come fully assembled and installs with mounting clips as one piece. The MSX One without the Mounting Plate will come with brackets that are installed first, and then the shade roll clicks into each bracket. This is the cleaner look.

Ordering Your Roller Shades

When Will I Receive My Order?
All orders are made in-house at MSX. Orders typically ship within 7-10 business days. Cell Shades, Blade Shades, Coupled Shades, Bottom Up Shades, and all Oversized Shades can have extended lead times.
See individual product pages for current lead times. Standard shipping averages about 3-5 days.
What If My Item Is Out of Stock?
If an item you ordered is out of stock or on back order, you will be contacted by a Modern Shade Xpress customer service representative to either change or cancel your order.
How Much Will I Pay for Shipping?
Nothing! Shipping is free in the USA & Canada.
How Will I Know When My Order Has Shipped?
You will receive an email or text message when your order ships along with the tracking number.
What If My Order Doesn't Arrive for Any Reason?
Modern Shade Xpress stands behind its orders. If for some reason your order does not arrive, we will make it right.
What Is the Return Policy?
Because all shades are custom fabricated to each customer's specifications, we do not accept returns. However, every shade order includes our Total Trust Warranty as well as Measurement Insurance and Product Selection Insurance.
Does My Roller Shade Include A Warranty?
MSX warrants the entirety of our products from defect or workmanship flaw for 5 years, for free. We stand behind our product, and our production! Learn more about our Total Trust Warranty.
